Every person has several pigment spots, also known as nevi, on their body. They are categorized as ‘congenital’ and ‘acquired.’

Nevi have various characteristics and change their appearance over the course of our lives. In recent years, there has been an increase in problematic changes in skin moles, leading to the occurrence of malignant skin melanoma. Malignant melanoma is one of the most malignant types of tumors.

According to European guidelines, every person should be examined by a specialized physician at least once a year, who will inspect all moles and recommend the appropriate course of action for further monitoring or potential removal.

If a mole is deemed dangerous or suspicious by the physician, it should be professionally removed (excised) and subsequently sent to a specialized facility for histological diagnosis, which will better determine the nature of the mole and, based on this information, recommend further steps.
